File Specifications

If you've used any form of Print Bureau before then you'll find our system a breeze.

If you're new to sending files for printing then make us aware and we'll guide you through and watch your jobs carefully.

Rules:

No Trim marks needed
Just send 1 print per file. The document size will indicate where we trim.

Die-cutting, Kiss cutting (making shaped graphics)
As long as the file is in "Vector" format (ie. not pixels) then our cutting machine will handle the job fine.
Beware that diecutting has its physical limitations (ie. cannot cut teeny tiny shapes!)
For more info on his topic click here       or go straight to Cutter Calc

If you need to describe to your customer's designer how we need the files when
shape (forme) cutting is involved then send them this PDF Designer Instructions

Flatten Transparencies
Sometimes transparencies can give us grief. It's safer to Flatten them.

Use our PDF Preset
Click here to download our simple PDF Preset. If you need help in loading the preset or using it then click here.

Bleeds
Our preset will print 2mm colour bleed(external) if necessary before trimming. To ease our stress please don't include vital text closer than 2mm from a trim edge (internal bleed).

CMYK
Please make sure your files are CMYK. RGB files will print but we cannot be sure on how some colours are reproduced.

PMS colours (& other special spot colours)
As with traditional screenprinting colour matching can definitely make us all cry like babies.
We have a range of colours that we prefer to use and can supply samples on all materials (as materials can effect a colour).
If a particular colour is crucial to a job then we can tweak settings and supply samples before the print run. HOWEVER, be aware that this tweaking does effect the cost and slows down the job.

Black
There's nothing like a good black. Running 100K usually isn't heavy enough. If you want a dense black then setup 70,70,70,90 (cmyk).

Resolution
Swish runs at 300dpi so please don't send us files that may contain ridiculous amounts of data. A safe method is to use our "preset" to distill your job, then any silly images will be saved down to 300dpi.

Typestyles (fonts)
The safest way to send us you job is to convert your text to curves (known as... create outlines), or at least embed then in the file. If you are at all unsure about saving fonts then please discuss it with us. Please do not send fonts to us.

File names
There's no rocket science here. Just don't make the files too vague (ie. bumper sticker).
Include your company name and a good description of the file.

STILL UNSURE?
